We are thinking of having another baby and I have been thinking a lot about it lately. With Megan, when she was done with the night feedings, if she woke up, we gave her some time to fall back asleep. Now the next one I am thinking when we do this, we will now have two kids up, the baby and Megan. Did you notice this to be a big problem with your first born? or if you have more than two, the older kids?

I must admit we did the same. At three months when Mikey got up during the night there were no more feedings and we would let him cryi it out for 15 minutes. Well now I have my daughter who doesn't cry she screams. I notice during the night though Mikey doesn't get up. But in the morning he usual gets up between 7-7:30. If she cries anytime after 6 he does wake up. I guess he is no longer in that deep sleep. How old is Megan?

Megan is 19 months old and we are going to try and space them 3 years apart.

Don't be so sure Megan will be bothered. I guess some kids are, but my daughter seems completely oblivious to her little brother's cries, despite the fact that he's right next door to her.

Steve's right. They pretty much get used to the cry and tune it out.

Thank you everyone. I don't know why I would worry about this, Megan slept through us finishing the basement and replacing the railing right outside her room.

That is so funny that you say that. I always think about things too much. I have always looked to a textbook to figure things out and surprise surprise, you can not do that with motherhood. So that was a huge adjustment for me. Thanks.

With my kids, they wake each other up. In the middle of the night my 1st will go back to sleep but if it's EARLY in the morning she's up and now that #2 is getting older she wakes him up during his naps.

I remember the day we bought our little girl home from the maternity that night around 11 pm she woke up crying and my son who was 2 woke up shot out of bed and ran to her bassinet. I thought oh no she is gonna wake him up every night. However the next night he didnt even stir when she cried and her crying had and has no effect on him anymore. He is also a great help with her and I am glad we have 2 beautiful children.

Don't get me wrong having more than one is wonderful!!!! The more the merrier. That's just how it is at my house. No big deal though. I can't wait to see how crazy our house gets when we have more! Shocked I'm the kind of person who wants to hear what others won't tell you...especially when it came to L&D. Very Happy
