|
|
My daughter was potty trained at about 25 months. She was doing good for about 2 months, would go all day without an accident, then one day she just started having accidents on herself like everyday at daycare. Like one day her teacher told me that she put Brianna in timeout and she sat there and threw a fit and a little while later, she tells her teacher, "I'm peeing Mrs. Tilly". It was like she did it because she was mad that she was in the timeout chair. They are making me put her in pull ups all day now over there. And I have a feeling this will just make it worse. Has this happened to anyone. It is not just at daycare though, she'll do it the house too when she has panties on. This weekend, I think I will put her in timeout when she pees on herself, and let her know that big girls don't pee pee on theirself. It's not like she doesn't know better. She does. Any one else went through this or have any other suggestions?? |

I think positive reinforcement will work a lot better for you in the long run. Instead of punishing her for having an accident, reward her with positive comments/feedback when she stays dry (even if it's for a few hours).
She is still very young, and children sometimes regress with potty training for one reason or another. Has there been some sort of change in her daily routine either at school or home?
You CAN get her back on track, but I think timeouts for having an accident are not the way to go.
My son was not potty trained until almost 3 and during the time he was learning there were periods where he would become disinterested in the potty...I just became creative and thought of ways to get him interested again.
Good luck! |

| Well, she is still young, so perhaps this little setback can just be chalked up to her age. Is there any new stress in her life? New daycare, new sitter, new sibling? Sometimes a change in ritual can cause a potty training backslide. |

Well, about 2 weeks ago, my husband and I told her that she will be big sister. Maybe she wants to be the baby again????? I will try the positive reinforcement , though. I would much rather doing that than punishing her. I hate hurting her feelings. (Thinking Outloud) Gosh, I wonder if it could be that we told her that we are having another baby????????
Thanks

Sounds like it to me! Iy's not a matter of wanting to be a baby,it's a matter of losing you,she thinks you are replacing her, give her a while to ge used to the idea, can you get a book to read about it? Try"There's ahouse in mummy" or " Mummy's having a baby" if not try making a book of baby pictures including one's of her and out of a magazine, and read it with her, explaining how much help she will be ! Hope this helps |

| I know this is kinda late..but with the new baby coming adn everything, that is a def. My Sister went through that with my twin neices when she told them, she was having another. They actually crawled around, going goo goo, gaa gaa almost 24/7, and wanting to drink from bottles and wear diapers all over again! There are things you can do, my sister lost her mind though *or has she always been like that?* but none the less, just take it a day at a time, and try and explain the situation, sometimes kids act like they don't understand, but they do! Good Luck! |
