My 9 month old daughter has had a herniated belly button since shortly after her cord fell off. The pediatrician keeps telling me it should go away on its own, that they usually do. A month or better ago he said that as she started to sit up and crawl, those muscles would strengthen and it should disappear. She has been crawling a couple of weeks now and I don't see any change in it yet? Has anyone else had a baby with this? DID it go away on its own? and when? If it requires surgery to repair, when should this be done?
Thanks. |

| My dd had a slightly herniated button and was told that the muscles would tighten when she started walking. |

| My stepdaughter had a herniated belly button as well. She had surgery when she was about 5 years old to correct it. It was a day surgery. In and out the same day. |

Anyone know of someone who had this and it DID correct itself when the baby started walking? I've not found a single person yet that has told me it did. And does anyone know, do they put the baby under for the surgery?
Thanks. |
