I love chicken curry salad but I have red somwhere that
hot curries are used to invoke the contractions.
I am puzzled.

anybody knows if curry is bad for you during pregnancy?
not much info on this one.

I've dropped celery sticks that I was adding to the
salads as they say taht this is defenetely not safe but
the curry is still mistery.

First of all I still eat celery and it hasn't hurt my baby! Second what you are thinking of is this: When a woman's cervix is ripe and she is ready to deliver but hasn't actually started the process of labour, one of many old wives tales on how to get your labour started is to eat spicy foods which in turn makes you have strong bowel movements which some belive makes your uterus contract. It is perfectly FINE to eat! No offence but I think you are going a bit overboard here! You are so worried about, well EVERYTHING that you haven't taken the time to ENJOY your pregnancy! RELAX!!! If all of these things were actually dangerous then I think there would be alot more unborn babies dying!

I would have to say I totally agree with Hannah's Mommy. You need to relax because all that stress and worrying will do more harm to your baby than anything else you are worrying about.

Not including the times I had morning sickness I ate curries though out my pregnancies. My babies were fine. Curries didnt help me go into labour like the old wives tale says. I tried them when I was overdue with both my children and it didnt work. There are lots of myths out there if your concerned with anything ask your doctor/midwife.

thanks!
I am still looking for more info but so far I did not find anything against eating curry in small quantities. I think that large are not so safe since spicy food is recommended to bring on contractions.
I guess more research needed.

If you guys see anything please let me know I would appreciate.

Like I said large amounts of spicy foods will only cause you to have contractions IF YOU ARE READY TO GO INTO LABOUR! in other words IF YOU ARE FULL-TERM AND YOUR CERVIX IS RIPE! also it does not always work! If you are less than 37 weeks along then it is FINE for you to eat as much spicy food as you want!
