Hi,

I remember with my first pregnancy in the second and third trimester I used to get terrible 'charlie horses' in the middle of the night. In my sleep I would accidently tense up my leg and then all of a sudden would get this agonizing pain and it would seem to take forever to go away.
In the morning I sometimes would still be sore and it would be hard to walk.
I think that all of this is normal. Oh, and I used to get nosebleeds too!

Yes I get these. They still hurt a few hours later but not as intense as the first initial spasm. Man those really hurt. My doc said to try having calcium before bed in the form of Tums or milk.

I used to get those in my calfs. GOD did they HURT!! My doctor said if you strech it out as soon as you get it then it won't hurt as much after; It won't have as much time to knot up as opposed to leaving it, which is what I did the first time b/c I didn't know what to do and it killed for like 4 days!! I tried streching it right aftrer it happened every time after that and it didn't hurt after at all! Imagine that! a pregnancy pain that you can actually DO something about!! Weird how they usually only happen when you're sleeping. I did eventually stop getting them though so I hope the same happens for you! Also Marianne's first you are SO right! The first one is SOOO much more painfull than the rest of them!

I almost never post to the board, but this is one thing that I can actually help with. When you get a Charlie horse, try using your hand to pull up on the four small toes on the foot of the leg with the Charlie horse. This usually releases the cramp right away.
