Hi, I recently took a HPT (First Response) and it came out positive. For a long, long time I didn't think I could get pregnant...anyway, my period is not due for another three days, but I had the feeling I might be, so I took the HPT yesterday. Is it possible to get a false positive pregnancy test? How accurate is First Response? How often do people get false positives? I know that I should test again, and I will. I plan on testing after my period is due to come (if I miss it), and then if that one comes back positive, I will go to the doctor. But in the meantime I'm driving myself crazy with all of these questions...can someone please put my mind to rest!

False negatives are more common than false positive. If it showed positive then my guess is it's accurate. I took them about 5days before my periods were due and they showed accurate then. You can always go to get a blood test and they will tell you for sure. I would do this as soon as a HPT came out + for my own sanity plus I had to have a blood test before my doctor would make an appt. Congrats if you are.

I guess I'm just scared that it will come back negative if I take it again! I will test tomorrow morning, and if that one comes back positive too, I will make a doctor's appointment. Thank you for the reply! And here's hoping.
:)
