Hello I'm new here. I just decided to go somewhere and talk about my situation. I'm 22 I have 1 child but he is deceased. My and my husband have been trying for about a year now to have another child, but nothing has worked. I just want to know how long is long enough to go see a specialist? Is a year a long time or should I just keep trting?

First of, I am so, so sorry hear about your son. My best to you and your family.

From everything that I have read and researched, you should try for at least a yr. So, if you feel that something is wrong or you are concerned and it has been a year.... I would make the appointment. Do you have a regular period? Are you charting or anything? I had my baby boy at 17 so I didn't do any of that needless to say. But, I am learning now how to read my body alot better.

All the best to you!

Yes I have regular periods. I've been off of birth control for 2 yrs now. I haven't started charting but I am now. I just heard of it the other night.

Well, I can say this (it might make you feel a little more at ease about not conceiving just yet).

I cannot be on any form of the pill, shot, IUD, etc. due to bloodclots when I was pregnant with my son. At first, we used condoms. Then as we got closer, bought the house, etc....we don't use anything. This has been for over two yrs. We never charted or anything at all. Just simply use the withdrawal method everytime and even a couple times when we didn't. There was only one time in that over 2 yrs. that we thought I may have had a VERY early miscarraige. So, my point...timing is everything. Just start to pay attention to your body and your cycle and above all....don't stress or obsess.

You and your husband have obviously gone through a terribly stressful time and my heart goes out to you. So your body and mind need to be at ease now and just keep your eyes open for all the signs that you are ovulating, etc. Hope this helps...

Hi, so sorry to hear about your little boy  it must be really hard. but a year is definatley long enough to be trying befor seeing a doctor. I've just been to see a doctor and it's been 10 months she has sent me for blood tests on day21 and I have areturn app. for the end of January when we will have been trying for a year. There is such a thing as secondary infertility, so go and see your doctor and get some help cos' honey you sund like you deserve some happiness in your life :)

Oh I am so sorry :( My heart breaks for you and the pain you both must have gone through.

Its is lovely to hear that you are trying again too - a year of TTC is certainly time for you to go to the Doc. Most will refer you to a specialist after 1yr.

I hope that you make a visit soon and hopefully they will be able to pinpoint the problem quickly so you can have that BFP as soon as possible :)

Hello and welcome. I am so sorry to hear of your terrible loss. That must have been so heartbreaking. Its great that you are ttc again. I wish you loads of luck. I think a year is a long time and you should go see a doctor to see what he thinks.
