Hi,

Well, I guess it all depends on whether you have a vaginal delivery or
c-sec. I had an emergency c-sec, so I had quite a bit of pain around my incision area for about a week or two. If you have a vaginal delivery and they have to cut you (an epesiotomy)sp?, it may be painful afterwards. Particularly when you urinate.

I also had an epidural during labour and the epidural itself did not hurt in comparison to the pain of my contractions. Unfortunately, the first epidural did not work and they had give me another one. I did not have a good labour experience at all.....but I won't get into it because everyone is different and every experience and hospital is different and I don't want to scare you.

Good luck!!

With my first child i had absolutely no pain at all anywhere after birth. I had her without medication and was not cut nor did i tear during delivery. I was induced with her...pitocin, cytotec, AROM...the whole works. Labor lasted 7 hours. Transition lasted 45 minutes.

With my second child i was also induced. I did get the epidural with him. It hurt HORRIBLY while the lady put it in. I yelled so loud my husband heard me down the hall. I was not cut or tear with him either and had no pain sitting or anything afterwards. However....the epidural was horrible. I still have pain in my back where it was 8 months later.

We are planning to start TTC again now and without a doubt the next one will be a natural birth again. Just my story. Not everyone is hurt by the epidural but i have talked to SEVERAL women who said they did have a lot of pain afterwards around where the epidural was.

Thanks for your encouragement. I got a little nervous about labor, delivery and the epidural. I still have a while to go until I will have to go through it but it is hard not to think about it now.
