I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant and the doctor wants to go forward with a bunionectomy that was already scheduled. It is a surgical procedure on the foot. He says that local anaesthetics are fine during the first trimester as well as atibiotics through IV. Does anyone know about this? Is it harmful? I am worried though I know I need the surgery. My foot has been in a lot of pain for years and he is worried the bone will crack if not taken care of. I want this baby so much and don't want to risk it. Please help!!!!

I wouldnt worry to much about a local anestesia (sp?) because when I was in my 2nd trimester, I had an x-ray, MRI, and like 20 otehr things..which sucked really bad! They told me I had a chance of the baby being deformed or something, but everything is ok so far. So no don't fret. Just keep your chin up and look to those who you care about the most! Wink
