My husband and I both have brown eyes. However my dad has green eyes and his dad has hazel eyes. Her eyes were dark, dark blue when she was born and they've lightened up and are starting to turn a little green. Can anyone tell me how the eye color changes? Because my mom and his mom both said that if they were going to turn brown they would've went from blue to brown and never lightened up. Help, please

Hi,
Here is a great site that will give you all the information you are
looking for: http://www.seps.org/cvoracle/faq/eyecolor.html
It does sound like your mom might be right......if the eyes seem to be lightening up then it may be that your baby will have light coloured eyes and not brown even though brown are generally dominant.
I have hazel eyes and my husband has brown eyes....my son ended up with brown eyes. Everyone in my family has either blue, green/hazel eyes and everyone in my husband's family except for a few cousins has dark eyes(Portugese/Hungarian).......it is very interesting how genetics work.
Hope you find the info your looking for |

| Both my husband and I have brown eyes. My mum has blue eyes. Our son was born with blue eyes and they stayed blue. Our daughter was born with dark blue eyes then they went grey /blue she is now 1 and her eyes are green/brown. I am not sure why this happens but I guess you can never tell and have to wait and see. |

Hi,
Maybe her eyes will be hazel.......which are basically green eyes with flecks of brown . My mom has blue/grey eyes and my sister has a cross between hazel(my eye colour) and blue/grey eyes....sometimes they even seem to change colour. |

| Both of my children are biracial. Both were born with brown eyes, but my daughters lightened and are now a bright blue. The baby's have stayed brown (the color of Milk Duds). Just goes to show you never know! The doctor did say that generally, whatever color they have at 6 months is what they'll have. |

My husband has brown eyes and I have hazel. A lot of my family has crystal blue. My daughter is now 13 months. Her eye color-brown-just really became apparent in the last 2 months. Before that, some days they looked like they were going to be brown, some days they looked like they were going to turn to blue. Alot of the time they really looked like brown over top of blue-wierd! It took longer than I would have thought for her true eye color to become apparent. So it may be awhile before you know what her REAL color will be.
