My 12 wk old has tonsillitis. He is suffering like he has a terrible cold and and a horrible cough. I am so upset. He is on antibiotics but he is still having problems with congestion and coughing. Does anyone have any suggestions? Question

If your doctor is like mine they don't like to give any cold medicine. But for a cough but the head of his matress up. That helps him sleep. Also run a cool air humidifier in his room and steve is right tylenol. If nothing else will just help make him comfortable.

I agree with Jenna. If the doc doesn't give them anything for the cough (they may not be able to at 12 weeks), try the humidifier, raising the head of the bed a little (we even went as far as to put our son in his car seat when he had a cold at 6 months) and another thing I found that helps my son with colds...a vaporizer. These are different from humidifiers in that you just put a little pad into it and it releases vapors that help open clogged nasal passages. We have the Vick's one, but I believe Hall's makes one too. Another thing to try for nasal congestion is saline nose drops and the wretched nasal aspirator (we call it a "sucky ball"!). Of course...your child may be like mine and act like you have a knife in your hand instead of the sucky ball!! He absolutely hates it!! But it will help to get that gunk out of their nose!!

Hope your little one is better soon!!

Hugs,

Beth
