I thought that maybe it was that way so that he couldn't lean or tip forward too much. But he is six months old and the box says for 4 mo and up. A 4 mo old would really be too short for it. I think it is usually 25 lbs and I expect Lily to start evening out on weight since she is moving around and burning calories I suggest the jumparoo. I wish I had gotten that rather than the hop n pop.
