Hello. I'm a new first time mother. My 3 week old daughter has problems of latching on for breastfeeding. So mostly i give her expressed breast milk. The question i have is if i should be worried about getting pregnant? as i am not exclusively breastfeeding. Please let me know what you think.

ABSOLUTELY!!! Never use breastfeeding as a contraception - take it from me - my baby was 11wks old and I fell pregnant with my second Very Happy Its an old wives tale that you can depend on breastfeeding to stop you from falling pregnant.
Apparently they say breastfeeding works better as a contraceptive when you are still feeding around the clock and my baby started sleeping through the night at 6wks so they said it made me at higher risk. At any cost though it cant be trusted so make sure you use something in the meantime - IF you want to that is Laughing Two under one can be fun!!

So my daughter is getting better for latching on. I'm just wondering what kind of birth control you used while breastfeeding? I didn't think you could... Confused

We have something in Oz called the mini pill - it allows you to take it whilst breadfeeding. Other than that condoms, diaphragms etc. Have a chat to your Doc - they will be able to let you know all your options Very Happy

You can do the minipill or an IUD. Basically anything without estrogen.

My son is 9 months old and I still breastfeed him. Last month I had an IUD inserted and now I feel more peaceful.
