I was just wondering if any one else has had extreme thirstiness during their pregnancy. At first I thought it was probably just a normal thing but then I started reading about this possibly being a sign of diabetes. Anyone know anything about this?

Thanks in advance!

I was thirsty all the time for the first 3 months of my pregnancy with my daughter. I would wake up in the middle of the night so thirsty. I made the mistake of drinking too much juice though, it packs on the calories a lot faster. It eventually went away though.

As you can tell by the bar below I am 35 weeks pregnant and I STAY THIRSTY!! I can NEVER get enough to drink! I have to get up in the middle of the night to get me some cold water.... I never use to have to do that! Mine has not went away yet and when I took the test for diabetes everything was normal... so it must just be a pregnancy thing! But... as a word of advice... do not drink too much before going to bed or you will be like me and end up getting up like 4-6 times to use the restroom---honestly! Good luck!

Thanks for all of your responses! I feel a lot better now. I'll still bring it up at my next doctors appointment but at least until then I won't be driving myself crazy with worry!

Hi.

There has been research that states excessive thirst is related to diabetes.

I would say go to your clinic and have a GTT test to be clear.

I wouldn't worry too much about diabetes though. Many women get very thirsty especially early on in pregnancy. If you are really worried though, get a test!!!

They typically do a diabetes test when your around week thirty something? Can't remember exactly. I wouldn't worry to much. I have always been thirsty with this one.
