Remember I said my girlfriend Joanie got the tubes on her daughter done. Well, I got an e-mail from her and I thought I would show you.

Yes Maddie has been doing excellent since the tubes! I'm so glad we did it, she was just miserable and sick every week, it was awful! Now we're trying to break all the bad habits we started when we felt bad for her, like the pacifier and being rocked to sleep rather than just put down.

Also in karate I was talking to one of the dad's there. I had noticed his daughter hadn't been in class. He said when she was real young she used to get real bad infections. Then they did the tubes and she was fine. Then they took the tubes out. I didn't know they did that. But two weeks ago she had such an infection that the pressure was so bad they did emergency surgery to put the tube back in. And she's been fine ever since.

Sorry ... didn't see this before.

Honestly I've sort of been rooting for them. Two of my three neices had to have them and they helped immensely with both. In fact, the eight-year-old neice had to have new ones put back in. The minute her old ones fell out she got an infection. The good news with Jack, though, is that he's infection-free for a week or so now. Of course, he's still on a maintenance dose of anti-biotic, so we'll have to see what happens when that's done.

Nevermind what I said above. He's been cranky, blotchy (he gets like that when he's sick) and pulling at his ear today. Back to the doctor. The pediatrician said if he got infected again while on that low dose antibiotic that he would definitely send us to the ear, nose, and throat doctor.

These $20 co-pays are KILLING ME!

Oh gosh. I have never heard of a little one with so many infections. How was he today?

Well, he doesn't actually have an infection as it turns out. The doc said there's some fluid in there that looks a little cloudy. It could be the end of the last infection or the beginning of a new one. Jack has his nine month checkup in two weeks, so they'll take a look then.

You guys don't know the half of it. Now Hannah is sick. She caught a stomach bug or something. She's been throwing up off and on since about 5pm, and it's now a little after 11pm. It's going to be a rough night.

On the upside, Jack isn't acting like he has a full-blown infection .. just a little cranky. Sad when that's a good thing, huh?

Oh well .. it could always be worse. These kids WILL get better eventually.

Not so great. She threw up four times between 8pm and 1am. We went through three sets of pajamas and two sets of sheets. I finally managed to get some anti-nausea medicine in her and I think it took hold, so she slept the rest of the night. She threw up again this morning, unfortunately. I was hoping a good night's sleep would take care of it.

Just for future reference- what kind of anti-nausea medicine do you use? Steve, I hope your kids are feeling better by now.
