I am 39 weeks also and I live in Texas where it is 110 degrees, so I know how you feel. One of the best ways to induce labor that REALLY works is to use Castor Oil (it is $1.97 @ Wal-Mart). The only thing is that it is a laxative but WILL send you into labor if your cervix is already thinning out. Another suggestion is taking Evening Primrose Oil. It is a gel pill like Vitamin E and you can take up to 5 a day. This doesn't cause contractions but will soften and ripen your cervix!! Sit indian style or squat, this helps open up your pelvis so that the baby can come down. Nipple stimulation is supposed to work too. Good Luck!!!
: I will be 39 weeks tomorrow and am so ready to be done with this pregnancy. I don't want to do ANYTHING that would hurt the baby, but I was wondering if anyone knows any natural ways to induce labor. I know sex is supposed to help, did that last night (sorry if TMI). Some people say walking, but I don't know if my back will take much walking. My friend is a PT and said that my pelvis is pushed way forward and my lower back is out. Something I will just have to deal with until baby comes. My back will go numb from my tailbone up if I am walking or standing too long. I've thought about taking a ride on a bumpy road, but I have trouble holding it, if you know what I mean. I guess I could put on a pad and go for it anyway!!! I have been swimming with my kids for exercise so hopefully I won't have any problems pushing due to inactivity.
: Well let me know girls. Anything is worth a shot right now. I'm going to ask my midwife today for any suggestions. Maybe if I threaten to jump on the trampoline she'll take me seriously:^)
