Well, what we did worked really well and took them off guard... (it is really quite stupid but it got the point accross)

We went to my mother in laws house and just started talking about our house and our expenses (somewhat) then after a while I said.." So mom we have a really big question for you and you can say no we will understand" (she thought we were proably going to ask for money) So she replied with.. What? (very rudely might I add)

I said " Are you ready to be a grandma?"

She jumped up and said oh my god are you and she hugged us both and couldn't have been happier...
