Wendy's Birth Story:
~~~~Ok, I will start at the very begining. My ob appointment was at 3pm on Tuesday. So, I go in there expecting to have my baby. Well, the nurse that weighed me and stuff said :oh yeah they'll be putting you in this week for sure" I was like what???? But, then I went to see my ob and she said that hopefully I would go that night and if not, she would get me an appointment in the morning. Oh, I had my fingers crossed the whole time she was checking me. So, she checked me and I was 4 cm!!! So, she said oh yes you are going to the hospital tonight!
Anyway, I got to the hospital around 4:30. They broke my water at around 6pm and started pitocin. I thought I wanted to wait as long as possible before the epidural, but boy was I wrong. These contractions HURT HURT HURT!!!! So, after about an hour of them, I asked for one. The anesthisiologist (sp?) was busy, so I had to wait for him. So, they checked me while we were waiting for him and I was 7cm already!!!! Anyway, I was in lots of pain while waiting, so they ended up giving me 2 shots of nubain in my iv before the epidural. I don't know what that stuff is, it didn't make the contractions not hurt but it made me feel GOOD! lol
Well, I finally got my epidural between 8:30 and 9. Remember how scared I was about it? I don't know why! lol I didn't even feel him do it. The only hard part about getting it was sitting still through the contractions, which were coming about a minute apart, if not less. I am so glad I got the epi, I LOVED it!! I was sitting there and the nurse came in and was like wow you are so calm, your contractions are really close together and very strong. I was like oh really? I can't tell. LOL So they checked me again and I was 9cm! I couldn't believe how fast I was dilating.
Then they came in around 11pm and said they wanted to see how good I could push (because of the epidural) so they told me to give them two good pushes, and they were like well, you are going to have him now! He moved about halfway down the birth canal in those two pushes! So, they went and got everything ready and came back, and I started pushing.
Baby Bruce entered the world at 11:53pm on September 30. His scream was the sweetest thing I have ever heard in my life. He weighed 7lbs 15ozs, and was 20in long. He has a head FULL of blonde/brown hair and blue eyes (of course). He is georgous. He is the perfect mix of me and Stanley. He's got my nose and ears, but he looks just like his daddy.
I didn't have an enema ( yay ) and I didn't have an episiotomy. I had two little tears at the top, so I got just 3 stitches. They did empty my bladder with a catheter (sp?), which was very uncomfortable. I can't even feel my stitches. About 30 minutes to an hour after he was born, I got up and went pee, it stung that one time, but since then I have been fine. I am sore, but I feel alot better than I thought I would.
Ok ladies, I think that's about it. If you have any questions, or I forgot something, ask, I will be more than happy to answer them.~~~~
