Pregnancy Test Answer Accurate???

Thanks to everyone who responded to my post a little further down titled "Possibility of being pregnant, Please Help". I took a pregnancy test today and it came out negative :) I have definitely learned my lesson and will be using protection from now on, even when I finally start the patch.
I have another question though concerning the Pregnancy test. Do you think the answer was accurate? The last time I had unprotected sex was on the 30th of November. I took a test that you can do like 4 days before you are supposed to get your period. Since I don't know when my period is supposed to come, I figured since generally you ovulate about 14 days before you get your period, it would be alright to do the test since it has been about 2 weeks since I have had the unprotected sex. So the only time I could have gotten pregnant was about 14 days ago, so if I was supposed to get my period, It would be in about 2 days.
