: : Hi,
: : Has anyone out there been on Zoloft during their entire pregnancy? With my first child (now 4) I had severe OCD and was highly anxious. Needless to say, I gained 20 lbs and he was a month early. He's doing fine, now. I want to have another child, but I don't want to go through the OCD episode. I've been on 100 mg for four years, and I have no side effects from it:)

: Hi Maxine:
: I have the very same question. Did you find any enlightening answers? My OB and one psychiatrist told me they had no problem with me staying on zoloft (100mg) but one other psychiastrist wanted me off it. I did go off it for six months and subsequently ended up in the hospital with anxiety disorder and depression. I have to stay on the medication but I also very much want to get pregnant. From Cindy: I am three mos pregnant and just starting taking Zoloft for depression. I experienced post partum depression with my first child and it was important for me to be treated before I deliver this child. From all the research I've come across Zoloft doesn't appear to cause birth defects. It's much more risky to leave your condition(i.e. anxiety, depression) untreated during pregnancy or while trying to concieve I would think, although these are things you would have to discuss with your doctor. Good Luck!
