I haven't given any sleeping updates lately since they seemed to annoy a couple of people. Since you asked -- Hannah has been doing better. We get good nights and bad nights now, as opposed to all bad nights like we had before. She still wakes up somewhere around 4 or 5am to feed, and we do feed her because she's on the small side and we want her to get as much as she can. About half of the time she also wakes up somewhere between 12 midnight and 1:30am and we're not sure why. It's pretty random. Usually that's a short wakeup and a little comforting calms her down, though. Hope that didn't bother anyone. Now .. solutions for you. To be frank, I don't have any solutions. Compared to a lot of 7.5 month olds, Hannah still doesn't sleep all that well. Basically we just ended up giving in and doing a controlled "cry it out". Basically we let her cry for 5 minute increments. Every 5 minutes we go in to try to comfort her for a minute or two. We don't have any rules about picking her up, as long as she is put down awake. That's not normally a problem :). We only do this when Hannah's had a couple of bad nights of multiple wake-ups and seems like she needs a "booster shot". One big thing we had a problem with was that Hannah needed to be nursed to fall asleep. Well, she STILL falls asleep on my wife's breast almost every night. There's no real way around that when we want to feed her right before bed and we wait until she's tired to do it. We just try to "half" wake her up while taking her upstairs to her crib. We talk to her and tell her where she's going and all about "dreamland". I prefer to have her hit the bed with her eyes open. This is just rough stuff and I doubt it's terribly helpful. If you'd like to send me an email and talk more, please do.
