I'm reposting this message that I left yesterday because it doesn't show up in the main message list for some reason. By the way, if you see the post from "hate to say it but..." that's not me.

Hrmmm .. that does sound familiar. Well, I can only suggest three things, and I'm no expert.

1) Remove your son's pacifier from his mouth while he's sleeping heavily. This way it won't wake him when it falls out.

2) Wake him up halfway as you're carrying him to bed. My daughter is usually sleepy enough that she'll go back down if I talk to her and tell her what's going on. I think it's important that the baby knows where it's going and that you tell them it's bedtime. I just describe what I'm doing ("turning off your lights, turning on your music, putting you down, etc.")

3) Consider an earlier bedtime. Your son probably isn't getting enough sleep, and believe it or not I've found that when a baby gets more sleep, they actually sleep better. Your son is getting only 8 or 9 hours of sleep. He should probably be getting as close to 10 as possible. I would recommend decreasing his bedtime by a half hour each day for a couple of days in a row and seeing what happens. He may still wake up at 12 or 12:30, but at least he'll be getting more total sleep.

Good luck.
