Hi. Alot of people have this problem, myself included and there are some groups in some states that are trying to have a law passed that will require insurance to pay for Neocate. You can get a letter of medical necessity from your doctor and GI doctor and have it submitted. It didn't do me any good. The ins. companies say it is "food" (and it is), but it is medically necessary food for our kids. Without it they would be very sick. From my experience, the only way insurance pays is if it is being fed thru a tube, NG or PEG. Sorry I could not be of more help. Try the letter and see what happens. Ordering thru SHS International, the maker and distributor, is about the cheapest way to go. Check EBay and message boards for people selling at a low price. : A very desperate mom.

: Help! My four months old daughter is on Neocate because of multiple food protein intolerance and milk allergy. We tried lots of other formulas which did not work. We live in MA and our insurance Guardian is based in NY. I just found out today that they denied us coverage because Neocate is an "over the counter" formula according to them. I appealed right away but they told me that since their system shows that Neocate is an over the counter, it would not do much.
: We cannot afford to pay this very expensive formula but if our daughter has to go back on Alimentum, she will get very sick again. Please help!!!
