My five month old son is teething and his world seems totally turned upside down. He wants to nurse constantly, although he still eats his cereal pretty well. He has bitten me 4 or 5 times--hard. Whereas he used to fall asleep easily in his crib, he now needs all of my energy and nursing to slip off and wakes up as soon as i put him down in his crib. He has been sleeping with my husband and I in our bed out of pure exhaustion on our part. His regular sleep pattern was 9-6. Now at 1 am we find ourselves trying to calm him to sleep and inevitably he is with us in bed. He won't nap during the day without a thorough nursing even if he isn't hungry. Even then, when i put him down he will often awaken.

My question is: should I continue to do these things when i prefer he not make them a normal part of his routine? I wonder if the teething and his pain merits such a drastic change in routine. Will he ever go back to a quasi state of baby independence after the pain subsides or will I have created a complete "momma's boy?"
