Debbies suggestion is a good one, I just wanted to add something. As it happens I just saw a dermatologist today for what turns out to be excema as well. The dermatologist gave me this advice :

1) Pat the skin to dry - don't rub.
2) Don't overdry the skin
3) Don't use too much soap when bathing/shower
4) Use a good moisturizer on babies skin after shower (galaxal base is a good one)
4) Don't get the skin overheated
5) Don't use too much detergent when washing clothes - many people put too much detergent in thinking that the clothes will get cleaner. Use less detergent and double rinse the clothes.

So going back to your question about detergent #5 applies I guess.
