Your baby may be ready, but the dribbling and chewing on the hands is perfectly normal, probably due to teething. I think it is best for your baby if you breastfeed as long as possible, at least until a year. This is tough for most people, but it really is healthiest. It is difficult for a baby to get adequate nutrition from solid foods only.
