I'm no expert (and I'm sure many other folks on this board will agree with that statement). But I believe that she's doing the screeching because that's the best way to get your attention.

Do you "hop-to" when she does that? Do you give her what she wants just to quiet her down?

I'm afraid there's no painless way out of this. This will become a battle of wills before it gets better. On your side, you'll have your willingness to tolerate her screeching, and on her side, it's her willingness to just keep screeching until she gets her way. Whoever gives in first, loses.

So my suggestion is to invest in a good pair of earplugs and brace yourself for a couple days of this. I can assure you, through my own experience, if you don't give in, she WILL stop, and peace will be restored.
