: Hi Chelsea. My son is 41/2 months also (born Oct 9,2002). My son used to give me terrible trouble to go down for naps also when he was just a month old and nothing worked. Finally we realised that he just would not settle to sleep on his back!! If I put him to sleep on his stomach he slept for hours but needless to say we were extremely concerned about SIDS. Finally we ended up buying an angelcare monitor that sounds an alarm if there is no movement(even breathing) detected for 20 secs. This made a world of difference. Now he sleeps on his tummy all the time. This is a very personal decision and we agonized over it for a long time but he was a very unhappy baby because he wasn't getting any quality sleep or naps. Now he naps like an angel. Also, because my son often falls asleep while nursing he has developed a bit of a sleep association so what i've begun doing is giving him a pacifier if he does wake early from his naps or during the night. I don't know if any of this helps your son but it has made a world of difference to mine. Let me know how it goes -- I know how frustrating it can be when a baby has sleeping problems. Good Luck!!

Thanks Sally. My husband and I have talked about the sleeping on the belly thing. We think that may work too we have just been nervous because of SIDS too. We'll give it a try. Thanks again!
