Actually, that is totally normal for your son to only be awake for 1 1/2 hrs before napping. Babies this age cannot usually go more than 2 hrs. before getting overtired and cranky. My son who is 5 months is the same way, and will usually nap for about 45 min- 1 hr at a time.
But my son does not consistently sleep through the night. He will sleep anywhere from 8-11 hrs at a time.
I think when a baby gets closer to 1 yr. they will stay up longer and only take 1 -2 naps a day.
