: Hey I am 10 weeks 5 days pregnant and I want to cover all my basis before the baby gets here I plan on breastfeeding but how am I to tell my 3 and a half year old that the baby will eat off mommy so that he won't try to do the same thing as the baby? Hi Cathy, to be honest with you the only thing I can say is not to put too much thought into this subject. My daughter is 14wks. old and I also have a 3 1/2yr. old son. I didn't even explain it to him nor did I ever talk about what I was going to be doing. I just did it in front of him and he excepted it. He did ask what Madison was doing and I explained this was how I fed her and this was how he used to eat also. For a child that young, they dont know anything different so it is very easy for them to except things like this. Just go with it and dont make a big issue. My son would make cute little comments whenever my daughter would start fussing from hunger like: "Mommy, Madison has to eat all of your boobett?" It was so funny! I have no idea where he got off calling them boobetts from...but it was still funny...LOL! It will be a good experience. I would suggest not hiding it from your child though. Good luck
