: My 4 1/2 month old did/does the same thing, but it is improving quickly. My Dr. said that some babies just spit up more than others. It was not considered reflux because my son was growing and gaining weight appropriately. : I learned to burp him everytime we pick him up from a prone position. This helps a lot! As he's learning to sit up by himself the spitting up has decreased considerably. However, I do notice that if he sucks on his pacifer for a while, a mouthful of clear (saliva) mixed with food/formula may come up. Again, best advice continue to burp him all the time, especially when changing positions. Good Luck! Hi Jennifer,

My son is almost 5 months and has been a heavy spitter since the beginning it seems. He too is only breastfed and just recently has had cereal once daily. He spits up more some days than others sometimes hours after he has been fed. Sounds so similiar to your little one. Anyways, I've discussed this with the pediatrician too with the same reply you are getting. He said once he sits up more it should start to improve. My son at 4 months was already 19.8 pounds at 29 inches. (They weren't too worried he wasn't getting enough, lol). I've tried just about everything. Nothing has seemed to work to great with the exception of trying to keep him upright for half an hour after feedings and not play and jostle him around too much after he eats. Sorry no good advice just wanted you to know you're not alone. :)
