Congrats to both Denise and Lori for their great situations. Truly that's wonderful that you have had such a fantastic experience. But (and you knew there'd be a "but" didn't you?) I think your experience is in the minority here. In my mind, if there is just one child that has to endure what is described here by Lucinda, that is one child too many! Granted, 100 lashes is a rather extreme solution and no doubt unrealistic. Unfortunately, there is no real solution that society can provide. So Lucinda, or anyone else who is in a similar situation, here is my advice to you: REFUSE to let what happened to you happen to your children. Take responsibility for yourself, and try to pass that sense of responsibility onto your children! If you want to go to school, do it, and let nothing stop you. Apply for grants, ask for loans, do everything you can to secure the funding you need to get there. Believe it or not, there is a LOT of money out there for people in your situation. A success story is badly needed, and charitable organizations are willing to risk a lot of money to get just one! Sure, there are hoops to jump through, but you CAN do it! Do some research, try to find it, do whatever it takes! Above all, believe in yourself. Self relience is incredibly empowering. Know that it can be done, and that you can do it.
