: : : My daughter had "colic" and it was the hardest 2 mths of my life! LOL But, if it is colic, babies usally don't start to cry until late afternoon, early evening. My sis-in-law has a book called " The Baby Whisperer" and she swears by it. I have 2 older kids and a 3rd on the way. If I had read this book with my daughter, i think I would have had an easier time with it! In a nut shell, you need to read your baby! No joke! By the first yawn, baby is getting tired, 2nd yawn, do your "time to sleep" routine, even if she just woke up 20 mins ago. If baby is overtired, she will not sleep for long. This, I did not know until recently. As far as "colic", The only thing that helped was to hold my DD high on my shoulder and walk or sway, and talk nonsense to her. When she started to wind down, after like an hour, I would lower her so I was kinda craddling her and sway or walk some more, until she fell asleep. I learned to sleep standing up. If you have a helping hand, use it if you get frustrated. Baby will get more worked up if you are upset. Just know that you can't do anything to make it go away, she has to outgrow it. It is also, not your fault! It will pass. But, definatly, read the book! My newphew goes to sleep on his own, stays asleep for a couple hrs a time. Good luck. ditto on kim
