Congrats Richard!!! How great to see a Dad showing so much interest. This board is very informative so keep coming after your baby is born for more tips. As for your questions--I can only speak from my experience (I have a five month old boy). In the beginning you will find your baby is feeding ALL the time. A newborn baby will feed every 11/2 to 2 hours. There were days I would literally make myself comfortable on the sofa with a glass of water and just spend all day feeding my baby because that's all he wanted to do. He will eventually feed every 3-4 hours. Mine established a 3-4 hour feeding schedule at around 3 months. As for sleeping-- a newborn baby should sleep 15-16 hours a day. The first three months there was no apparent schedule and then around 3 months a schedule began to fall into place and my son was taking about 4 naps during the day -- 10ish, 12noonish, 4ish, sixish, and then he's down for the night at around 9-930. A newborn baby will poo practically after every meal so you should change his diaper very fequently 8-10 times a day but around 3-4 months they poo less so I change my son 4-5 times a day. I hope this helps!! You got an earful.

P.S Try not to let your baby develop sleep associations ie don't feed, rock etc.. to sleep because your baby will later on NEED these things to sleep. Feed your baby after he/she wakes up if possible. Good Luck
