Baby won't sleep at all

Our 6-week-old baby has been up for 14 hours straight. She won't sleep AT ALL. I'm not talking about not sleeping alone, or not sleeping when on somebody or being held. I'm talking about not sleeping at all for more than maybe five minutes at a time. Nothing has worked - not even the usual standbys like the bouncer or the car seat.

She has no fever, is eating normally, has plenty of wet diapers and had a bowel movement today. I know she's overtired, but normally by this time of night she's pooped out and sleeping. My wife and I have to go to work in five hours and take her to day care, and there's just no way.

Has this happened to anyone else? Should we be thinking about going to to the doctor?
