: I have a boy who is now 6 weeks and seems to have a protein allegy--is real fusy unless is being held. he still will not sleep more than 20 min at a time unless is being held- if i put him down he screams like he is dying- we have been through nutramigin, pregestimil and now maybe elecare? any thoughts? how long should we stay on these before imrovement is shown or is he just wanting to be held? looks like he is in pain though, but know allergic reactions or bloody stool. Is this normal? My baby is 10 weeks old, and I think Elecare has finally done the trick for us. We have been through 4 other formulas, and are seeing a Ped. GI doctor now. She is also on Levcin drops to help with the spasms. She would try to feed and sometimes only drink an ounce before screaming and crying and thrashing around. The only way I could get her to sleep and calm down was to hold her tight against my chest/belly (upright) and walk with her. Then when she falls asleep I go lay down in bed and she sleeps on my tummy. It has been awful, but Elecare seems to work.
