: Okay, here is my problem. Since about 3 mos. my son has been sleeping through the night wonderfully. Up until just a few days ago he would sleep close to ten hours straight. But just recently he has started to wake up a couple times at night crying. I have tried to let it go, and just go in and comfort him every once in awhile, but it doesn't work. He ends up crying so hard he starts to choke. So of course I pick him up, and then he decides he is hungry. I don't know what to do, any ideas? I think babies go through phases. My son had similar phases too (though, he never ever slept more than 6-7 hours straight - he is almost 7 months old now). He still wakes one to three times each night. Letting them crying it out does not always work. Your baby is still very young. But now that he is waking to eat, try giving him a small quantity of formula (or nurse him lesser than usual if you are breastfeeding). Gradually reduce the amount you are feeding him at night, so that he will find it not worthwhile to wake up to eat. Hope it works for you. It did with my first baby.
