My son, now 8 1/2 months, did the exact same thing! From the time he was 2 months he was sleeping through the night, going to bed at 8pm and getting up between 7-8am. It was great! Then, right after he turned 5 months he began waking up at least 2 times during the night. Letting him cry it out didn't work. My husband and I tried everything, nothing worked. I asked my pediatrician but he said it was pretty normal and not to worry. I wasn't worried! I just wanted to sleep again! :)

What finally worked for us was this. Upon advice from family and my doctor, my son was getting cereal at night, supposedly this was supposed to help him sleep better. My son was also eating veggies and fruit during the day, which he loved. He was also taking formula regularly. What I did was take out the evening cereal. I stopped feeding my son any baby food, cereal included, after 4pm. All I allow him to eat after 4-5pm is formula. Works like a charm! As soon as I did that he immediately began sleeping through the night again. After doing this for a few weeks I tried feeding him baby food at 7:30pm one night and what do you know, he woke up twice during the night.

I told his doctor about this and he was surprised. He said that maybe his stomach doesn't digest food as fast so it is harder for him to sleep with food on his stomach. All I know is that it works!
