Have you ever meet with him and said you think he is too hard on the kid? Also, you might have to understand that dad is a little harder and the kid will soon learn that too. Two different people, two different styles and backgrounds, the baby will know whow to behave in each house and will learn the rules of each parent fast! There might be nothing you can do!
