Good luck Sue. We did a 5 hour trip in April when Arden was almost 6 months old. Because I was breastfeeding, I didn't have to worry about water, formula or sterilizing bottles. My daughter sat at the back with my baby boy and she kept him entertained for hours when he was awake. I was so thankful for her. I think they kept each other busy (because I didn't even hear a single "are we there yet?" from her). I would suggest that you or your husband sit at the back with the baby, because sometimes they cry out of sheer boredom of being in a rear facing car seat. Don't forget baby's favorite blankie in case he needs that to fall asleep. Dress him lightly so that he can move his arms and legs freely and make sure you carry some toys.
