: How old is your baby, Sue? If your baby is old enough to roll over both ways and is able to hold his head up well, its generally ok to let him sleep on his tummy. I had the same problem with my ds almost from birth -- he didn't want to sleep on his back at all. After many sleepless weeks, I ended up getting a baby monitor with a motion dectector that alarms if there is no movement (even breathing) after twenty seconds. It was a godsend and he is now 8 months. At around 5/6 months he did start sleeping on his back ok though. Perhaps this is why he's napping and sleeping at night so poorly. Some babies just don't like sleeping on their backs. : Sally He's 5 1/2 months old. He can roll onto his back very easily but can only get halfway back to his belly. He's has started sleeping on his side a bit lately but once he gets on his back he wakes up. He's been a belly sleeper since he was 2 months old. I am encouraged to hear that your son did eventually sleep on his back. Now I know there's hope :)
