: My son is doing the exact same thing. He is 4 months old now and has always slept on his stomach. He used to sleep 12 hours a night and 6 hours during the day and now he sleeps 8 hours a night (waking frequently) and 1 hour a day. I am sure that the teething is the problem because he drools so bad in his bed and then lays on it and freaks out. I think I am going to lose my mind! I have tried giving him cereal but he wont take a spoon and i cant get the stuff to come out of a bottle at the right flow. For some reason he sleeps so much better when I bring him in my bed.

When you give your baby cereal, do you put it in his bottle mixed with the formula? If you do, they sell crossed X nipples at the store. They have a little X for thick liquids. If he has trouble sucking out of those too, I was told with my babies to widen it a little or you could try and make your own X with the regular nipples with a small knife or scissors. Also, if he is teething they sell natural teething tablets that work great, also some infant's Advil will work. Advil lasts for 8 hours and Tylenol only 4. Both of these things together worked great for my babies which are now 1-1/2 and 3. I believe he is waking up because he is teething especially if he is drooling so much. I never put my babies in my bed even if they would be able to sleep better in my bed because of fear I would turn over and smash them and because I was told that switching them to a crib will be very difficult in the long run. You say he is sleeping 1 hour during the day. That is very little for a baby that age. He should be taking 2 naps still about 2 to 3 hours and sleeping about 12 hours a night. He is probably not napping adequately because of his teething pain.
