While I'm here, I might as well add my 2 cents. I'm doing the same thing right now. The two breeds that have come highly recommended to me are "spaniels" and "labs". The one point that people everywhere keep pounding into my head is that if you have little kids, you need a bigger dog....more climbing, pinching and pulling...smaller dogs overall have a tendancy to be unpredictable (not that bigger ones cant be), snappy and yappy. : My 1-1/2 and 3-year-old adore dogs, so I am planning on purchasing a puppy for them but have heard many mixed opinions from pet stores and animal hospitals. For those who have a dog and children or had a dog growing up, I would appreciate some information from your experience. I was thinking about a yorkiepoo but am not sure what their temperament is like. : Thank you.
