: For us, crate training is, keeping the dog in the crate when you go to bed or when your not home. If you buy a big crate, make sure you blook off some of it with a board, cause dogs dont like to go the bathroom where they sleep, so they will hold it. It really works, our 7 mth old jack hold it all night, and now has no accidents. I learned this after, but the best way to teach a dog to go outside is to tie a bell on the door, and teach the dog to ring the bell when he has to go. To do this, you just put the dog up to the bell (attached to the door with a rope) and push there nose on the bell. If the dog does go on the floor, use VINEGAR to clean. vinegar is an acid, and the dog will never go in the same spot. Thanks Tina. That is a great idea!! So far it seems like the majority say Labs and Golden retrievers are the best with children. I think I may end up buying a Lab.
