I think that labs would be good if they did not get so big! We have one and he is big even for my 5 yr old, very gentle just likes ot play. We also have a beagle and this is what I would look into. they do not get real big but are big and tough enough for kids. ours is so gentle and smart. She is also very loyal to my son, when he spends the night at say grandma she will only sleep on his bed and she waits for him to get off the bus! Good luck dog hunting.

: My 1-1/2 and 3-year-old adore dogs, so I am planning on purchasing a puppy for them but have heard many mixed opinions from pet stores and animal hospitals. For those who have a dog and children or had a dog growing up, I would appreciate some information from your experience. I was thinking about a yorkiepoo but am not sure what their temperament is like.
