Thomas (10 months) is my difficult sleeper. At 7 months we decided that CIO was our only option left. 6 waking in one night was the last straw. From all things I read you need to be consistent and persistant. Trying for less than a week is not going to give you results as they haven't been given the opportunity to learn to self settle. My other suggestion is in regards to the meal schedule. Thomas has dinner at about 6, and an 8 ounce bottle at 730 or 800. Right after that he goes to bed awake or not. The first several nights hae screamed bloody murder. No joke, two times for 1 1/2 hours! CIO in my experience means no picking up or talking. As soon as I convinced my husband of this we have a sleeper now. He still stirs several times now, but is back to sleep with NO help in about a minute. The only habit I can't seem to break is the 6 or 7 am soother. Once I give it to him he stays asleep another hour or 2. Any more Qs please ask away. I hope this helps and good luck. Vanessa
