: : My Dr. told me my 11mths old can have egg yolk, but he shouldnt have the whites yet. Anyone know what the differecne is?

:
: Egg whites are only bad if you give them raw because they contain a protein called ovidin which in rare cases can cause neurological (brain) problems. Cooked eggs whether over medium, over easy, scrambled will not.

: Hope this helps.

An allergy has not much to do with cooking doneness. If it is less cooked (ie. omlettes) the reaction will be more severe. My son has an egg allergy. It was confirmed at 10:00 this morning actually, although we had suspected it for several weeks. The first time he had scrambled eggs(well cooked, I would like to add) he had a facefull of hives in about 30 seconds! Here is a great site for egg allergy info.
