Please, I am desperate for help! My 3-year-old has never been a good sleeper. We got into the bad habit of laying with her until she falls asleep (after the usual ritual, books, etc.). Now we want her to go to sleep right after her two books instead of laying with her. Not only does she resist this, she gets out of bed, runs around the room screaming, pounding things, begging us to stay. I can't even make her stay in bed. For four nights it's been this way, and it either ends in her exhausting herself out after being so hysterical, or one of us sitting on her bed until she falls asleep. We are at our wit's end. She does not want us to leave, but we can't stay with her constantly, especially now that we have another one on the way.
Can anybody suggest what to do?
