: : : Do babies outgrow this and if so, when do you start to add dairy to the diet?
: : I work in the medical field and know this is called allergic colitis of infancy and your baby will outgrow this. She could try to slowly start milk now that she is 12 months but would not give her eggs or peanut butter until she is 3 years old.
: Also, how do I know if she is pooping blood again?? I try to check and it's soo hard for me to tell not that her poops are do many discolorations.. is there some kind of home test? It seems her poops are MUCH more "stinky" than normal (compared to my other 2 children - 4 & 2)
Usually in allergic colitis, you could see bright red streaks of blood in the stool. There are home tests (occult blood tests) for adults that you could use. I know of one called EZ Detect and there are many other brands. These are a little different than the kinds in the doctors offices. With these, you would drop some stool in the toilet, then drop a pad with some solution in the toilet, and then see if it changes color.
