We pierced Sandi's ears at six weeks at home! I know this sounds OT, but dh was opposed and our ped said the earlier the better. Dh did want me taking her to the mall and said that if I really wanted them done, then it would be okay for me to do them at home like mine were done by my mother. I used Baby's First Ear Piercer. If anyone is also interested in this option, write me an e-mail.
